“5010 WATCH” to identify claim submission problems

MGMA has initiated “5010 WATCH” in an effort to gather member feedback on problems practices are experiencing as a result of the Jan. 1 transition to the HIPAA Version 5010 electronic transaction standards. Although the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a contingency plan that included a 90-day discretionary enforcement delay, practices may still experience claims adjudication issues with government or commercial health plans, practice management systems, or clearinghouses.

The Association will aggregate this information to use in our ongoing efforts to educate CMS regarding the ability of practices to comply with this mandate and advocate for an appropriate implementation process.
