Near Nature. Near Perfect.

Since its first days as a rail hub, Spokane has stood as a destination city draped in natural beauty. As Washington’s second-largest city and the urban center of the Inland Northwest, Spokane showcases historic charm with energy and cultural offerings more reminiscent of a much larger metropolis. And as the business, medical, educational, and entertainment hub of the Inland Northwest, Spokane is home to a myriad of cultural and recreational opportunities. Taste Washington’s renowned grapes and hops at one of dozens of multiplying wineries and craft breweries. Catch a Broadway shows, live music, and stunning outdoor installations. Visit the shops tucked inside Downtown’s renovated historic buildings, along cobblestone streets that juxtapose Spokane’s rich history against an eclectic modern shopping scene. Whether you're looking for one-of-a-kind boutiques, galleries, department stores, or shopping centers, you won’t have to travel far.

A vibrant city, a roaring river, a gateway to the American west.

The 1974 World’s Fair brought Spokane to the vanguard of the environmental movement, and the 100-acre Riverfront Park is the lasting jewel from the fair. Built on reclaimed rail yard, the park has walking trails, a historic carousel, an IMAX theater, and a SkyRide over Spokane Falls. Best of all, it is steps away from the Spokane Convention Center and the Davenport Grand Hotel, providing a tranquil backdrop for your enjoyment throughout the conference.

Recognized as the heart of this three-state, two-province region, you can enjoy shopping and dining, museums and art galleries, Broadway and the symphony, biking, hiking, golfing, and more. And for the third year in a row, the Spokane culinary community is home to a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Northwest. We couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to introduce you to Spokane’s newest culinary highlights.

2. Critical Thinking for ADEPT Practice Managers

Deb Wiggs, FACMPE, Founder, V2V Management Solutions | $125 / $150

We are facing a transformation in health care. The race to restore declining revenue in our industry has become a full-time endeavor. How do you create sustainability in such a dynamic and changing environment? It starts with evaluation of the current state in both practice operations and financial performance. We will help you become ADEPT℠ at the business of health care by identifying your greatest opportunities for improvement.

How ADEPT℠ Is Your Organization?
Resilient leaders, those adaptable to change, will ensure their organizations survive, thrive, and are ADEPT℠ at the business of care delivery. This Preconference session covers many aspects of ADEPT™ as a practice model and starting point for value conversations regardless of program. ADEPT™ focuses on good business practices that make doing regulatory activities less onerous. I address operational redundancy, waste, and ways to be an effective and efficient organization.

Deb Wiggs, FACMPE, has been transforming medical care delivery since her career began. She’s established rural health clinics, grown multi-specialty physician practices and facilitated countless strategy sessions that have helped clients achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Deb’s great love is to pass this knowledge along via public speaking with humor, practical reality and a commitment to provide resources that transform how care is delivered. As a past board chair of MGMA, she understands the complexity of the healthcare system and knows how to work in it without making it more complicated. Her strengths lie in strategic planning, governance, and leadership coaching.

3. Revving up the Revenue Cycle: Patient And Payer Accounts Receivables Roundtables, Benchmarking and Recommendations!

Susan Childs, FACMPE | Founder and President of Evolution Healthcare Consulting | $125 / $150

Susan Childs PHotoRoundtables of Receivables! Speed Dating the Revenue Cycle!

This is an extremely fun and dynamic interactive session where attendees visit each station with such titles as internal checks and balances, benchmarking, grace period issues, high deductibles, front desk to back office issues, credit card policies, collections policies, reporting to physicians and others.

  • Attendees document and discuss what works and concerns!
  • Best Practices for Benchmarking and other AR Metrics to help you track and increase collections are included in handouts.

When all attendees have gone full circle and noted polices at each location, I then focus on some answers, then openly discussing and compare concerns, success stories, and AR policies across the spectrum of specialties. A follow up report is sent to the organization to then disburse to attendees. Presto! Survey results!

  • Assists in provoking discussion amongst attendees for real life best tips and practices
  • Adds to a better understanding amongst all specialties' - That we are all in this together and have similar concerns, successes and goals!
  • Best practices handouts on benchmarking and other AR Metrics and up to date survey specific to attendees that represent a good sampling of specialties.

This is a great opportunity for staff member team-building as much as sharing actions and revenue cycle best practices! Managers as well as their staff are welcome to attend, participate and interact. Benchmarking indicators furnished to confirm your success and assist with establishing most current and vital goals.

Susan Childs, FACMPE, is the Founder and President of Evolution Healthcare Consulting. She is a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Susan helps practices THRIVE. Her experience covers Operations, Financial Controls, Staff Accountability and Role Definition, Revenue Cycle, Time of Service and Front Desk, Customer Service, New Practice and Change Management. Ms. Childs has authored for organizations such as dermatology today, Greenbranch Publishing and the AMA. Susan is an accomplished speaker at local and national venues. She has served as local and State Leadership and MGMA ACMPE Advancement Chair. Her passions are patient access, staff member pride and accountability, and increasing the value of the physician.

Keynote Speakers

Conference opening session (Sunday, April 30, 4:00-5:15 pm):
Relationship Revolution: Building Better Connections in the Digital Age

Seth Mattison | Founder and Chief Movement Officer of Future-Sight Labs

Seth Mattison PhotoIn today’s super-wired, highly digital society, humans still crave social interaction and relationships. In business, creating strong relationships is the key to achieving success, both individually and as an organization. What’s the secret for cultivating successful relationships, particularly in business? As more and more of lives play out virtually, connections can sometimes feel less than fulfilling. From Facebook to LinkedIn, Twitter to Foursquare, it’s important to remember just how powerful it can be to reach beyond the fiber optics and make that physical connection.

By balancing the time and energy we spend in both the physical and virtual space we can create deeper and more meaningful connections. In this presentation, Seth will explore five key insights that will equip you for building better, stronger, more authentic relationships in the new world of work.

Attendees will gain:

  • Insights on the roadblocks preventing us from forming meaning relationships in the digital age.
  • New perspectives on the power of empathy, authenticity, and vulnerability to foster lasting bonds.
  • A roadmap for nurturing and growing lasting relationships.

Seth Mattison is an internationally renowned expert on workforce trends and generational
dynamics. As founder and Chief Movement Officer of Future-Sight Labs, Seth advises many of the world's leading organizations on the key shifts happening around talent management, change and innovation, leadership, and the future of work. His ideas have been featured in such publications as The Wall St. Journal, The Huffington Post, and The Globe and Mail.

He was recently named one of eight speakers alongside Thomas Freidman and Simon Bailey chosen for the “Editors' Picks For Favorite Speakers for 2013” by Meetings.Net.
